The Role

As a Civil Project Engineer at Skanstec, you will take a leadership role in planning, designing, and managing engineering projects from inception to completion. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage resources, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Your key responsibilities will include:

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution. Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in civil engineering, with a proven track record of managing projects.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in civil engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and project management tools is an advantage.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead project teams effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Client Focus: A commitment to delivering high-quality service and building strong client relationships.

Main Job Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Planning: Lead the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with client objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and Engineering: Oversee the design and engineering phases of projects, including site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, and infrastructure design.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations and codes.
  • Resource Management: Manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to achieve project goals efficiently.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures and review project deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance with design specifications.
  • Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on project progress, addressing concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
  • Budget Management: Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Risk Management: Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimise potential issues.
